Our community of artists was founded by Ben Platt Mills and has grown over the past 28 years to include our current collective of artists and craftspeople.

We are based in the Suffolk countryside on an off grid woodland site, powered by our solar rigs.

Our picture shows the memorial book created to celebrate Ben’s work as an artist and community builder following his death in 2014.

 Hearts of Oak Organisation (HOO) is our non-profit  organisation set up in 2000 and our aims are to  promote and encourage education and practical participation in the creation of visual arts in rural areas for the benefit of the local community and to support the work of  local professional artists with people in local communities whilst encouraging environmental awareness, access and care of the countryside.
